International Science Olympiads
You can represent our country in the International Olympiads in five categories.
General Information
The reason to participate in the International Science Olympiads is to encourage middle school and high school students who are Turkish citizens to conduct work in natural sciences, to direct their studies, and to contribute to their development by providing educational opportunities in these fields. It also aims to select students who will represent our country in the International Science Olympiads, and to prepare them for competitions. The teams trained by TÜBİTAK represent our country in the International Science Olympiads held every year in five categories and in various regional Olympiads.
The Olympiads
As the oldest of the Science Olympiads,the International Mathematical Olympiad has been going on continuously since 1959. Our country has participated in the competition since 1985, where each country participates with six competitors. Our country hosted the International Mathematical Olympiad in 1993 in Istanbul. The International Physics Olympiad was first held in Warsaw in 1967. Our country has participated in this Olympiad since 1985, and hosted it in 2001. Teams from the International Physics Olympiad consist of five competitors, and there are both theoretical and practical exams. Official website of the Olympiads is: https://www.ipho-new.org/
The International Chemistry Olympiad has continued since 1968, and our country has participated in this Olympiad regularly since 1994. The chemistry olympiad team consists of four competitors and the competitors are subject to practical and theoretical exams. The 43rd International Chemistry Olympiad was held in Ankara in 2011, and the 52nd International Chemistry Olympiad was held online in our country as well. Official website of the Olympiad is:
International Computer Olympiad, held in Bulgaria for the first time in 1989, sees countries compete with four competitors each. Our country has participated in this Olympiad since 1993. As the newest international science olympiad, the International Biology Olympiad has continued since 1990. Our country participated in the olympiad for the first time in 1993, and hosted it in 2000.
